  • Brien Strancar has been busy with his residency at The Works in Newark, Ohio, and will have a show there opening from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 3
  • The show will continue through the end of his residency on Dec. 20, and there will be an open house all day this Saturday, Dec. 5
  • This show will provide the first look at work made during the residency, featuring geometric murrini patterning and geometrically inspired vessels; he will also be showing a second body of work consisting of engraved bottles http://www.attheworks.org/

STARworks Seeks Full-Time Assistant (Deadline: Dec 15)Reprise!

  • STARworks in Star, N.C., is seeking a full time glass studio gaffer’s assistant; the application deadline is Dec. 15 http://www.starworksnc.org/
  • This employee will be working with the studio director and production manager to manufacture the STARworks line of products, present public demonstrations, complete regular maintenance, and assist visiting artists
  • Salary/wage is commensurate with experience; in addition to financial compensation STARworks glass provides full time employees with up to 10 hours per week of personal blowing time, exhibition/gallery sales opportunities, a personal studio space, and teaching opportunities

Brianna Barron Will Present to the Arizona Glass Alliance

  • BGSU graduate student Brianna Barron will give a presentation to the Arizona Glass Alliance on Monday evening, Dec. 21 http://azglassalliance.org/
  • Brianna has pursued her education in glass at Pilchuck, Penland, and Oxbow School in Michigan, and her work has been exhibited at the Ken Saunders Gallery in Chicago
  • She has worked as a glass blower at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit and has completed the assistantship program at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, Va.

Sten Neuber “Owlet” Selected for Craft Exhibition in Evansville

  • Radioactive Owlet by Sten Neuber has been chosen for the 44th Mid-States Craft Exhibition at the Evansville Museum in Evansville, Ind. http://www.emuseum.org/
  • The exhibition will be on display from Jan. 17 through March 6, 2016
  • There will be an awards ceremony and reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 23
  • Open to artists residing in the six states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and Missouri, the competition features ceramics, glass, textiles, metalwork, wood and mixed media

Joey Kirkpatrick and Flora C. Mace at Museum of Glass

  • The exhibition Joey Kirkpatrick and Flora C. Mace: Every Soil Bears Not Everything continues through May 15, 2016 at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Wash. http://tinyurl.com/obxx4t5
  • Joey Kirkpatrick and Flora C. Mace are pioneers of early contemporary glass and were close colleagues of Dale Chihuly and William Morris, often trading skills to develop signature works
  • With objects from 160 crates of work spanning 1970 to present, the exhibition tells a major chapter in the story of the Studio Glass movement; “There is no doubt that this exhibition is long overdue,” notes MOG Artistic Director Susan Warner

Erwin Redl at Carl Solway Gallery in Cincinnati

  • The Carl Solway Gallery in Cincinnati is showing work by Erwin Redl, who had a GAPP residency at the Toledo Museum of Art in 2013 http://www.solwaygallery.com/
  • The exhibition at Solway features work from 2010-2015, including an installation composed of digitally controlled LED light sculptures, kinetic sculpture, drawings and prints
  • An Austrian-born artist based in Bowling Green and New York City, Redl is best known for large-scale light installations for art museums, public buildings and corporations; his work transforms the medium of light into immersive, tangible experiences for viewers
  • The exhibition continues through Dec. 23
