Artist: Robert Bender

  • In 1984, he graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Illustration. From 1984-1992 he in Freelance editorial illustration. Clients included New York Times, Psychology Today, Billboard Magazine, many periodicals, pharmaceutical, and educational publishers. From 1992-2008, he as a writer and illustrator of children’s picture books. In 2009, after assisting his wife for many years in various aspects of her glass casting, he began his own work in glass sculpting.

  • 1992 A Little Witch Magic, Included in Publishers Weekly article, “Flying Starts”
    1992, 1994, 1997. A Little Witch Magic, A Most Unusual Lunch, and Barnyard Song were accepted into the Original Art Show at the Society of Illustrators in New York City.
    1996 Artwork from The Three Billy Goats Gruff was acquired by the Zimmerli Museum.  1997 Solo exhibition from The Three Billy Goats Gruff at the Zimmerli.
    1998 Art from Barnyard Song was aquired by Mazza Museum in Ohio. Received the 1998 Carolyn W. Field Honor from the PA Library Association. 2004 Barnyard Song was the winner of “Michigan Reads! One State, One Preschool”.
    2009 After assisting my wife for many years in various aspects of her glass casting, I began my own work in glass sculpting.

  • In 2011 I was included in New Glass Review 33, published by Corning Glass Museum, New York.

    2012 40th Annual International Glass Invitational Awards Exhibition, Habatat Galleries, Royal Oak, Michigan, full color catalogue.
