Welcome to Habatat Galleries, the premier destination for glass art enthusiasts worldwide. Established in 1971 in the vibrant art scene of Detroit, Michigan, we proudly hold the title of the oldest and largest art gallery in the United States exclusively dedicated to artists who harness the transformative power of glass as their medium.
Our 16,000 sq. ft. Michigan gallery, including the renowned Vault, serves as a beacon for art aficionados, housing the original International Glass Invitational for over five decades. Through this iconic event, we have introduced and showcased the finest talents pushing the boundaries of creativity in glass artistry.
At Habatat Galleries, we are not merely a venue for exhibitions; we are a cornerstone of the global glass art community. Over the years, we have curated groundbreaking exhibitions featuring luminaries such as Dale Chihuly and Klaus Moje, shaping the contemporary landscape of glass artistry. Our commitment to fostering a vibrant community extends beyond physical borders, as evidenced by our pioneering initiatives like the International Glass Exhibition in China and the Glass Coast Weekend in Sarasota, Florida.
We take pride in our mission to serve both public and private collectors, actively curating collections and championing emerging artists destined for recognition. Our collaborations with institutions, museums, and designers have resulted in exhibitions showcased in over 100 public institutions worldwide. Additionally, our annual publications document the dynamic exhibits held in our gallery and across the globe, further solidifying our commitment to advancing the appreciation and understanding of contemporary glass art.
