Karin Mørch
I find inspiration in the simple expression. In the contrast between straight and crooked.
I see the beauty of the geometric world, the architecture, natural phenomena, my experiences with other people, and art forms – music, dance, word,s and not least in the glass’s own characteristics. Characteristics such as transparency and the optical distortions – reflections of the world as I see them.
Creating space and form is my starting point. Often, history repeats itself, and different variations occur. A development towards new ideas is created. A process in perpetual change, a thing that is important for maintaining my curiosity.
My name is Karin Mørch. I am a glass expert and have worked with glass as my medium for over 20 years. I obtained a bachelor’s degree as a glass designer (former), from the School of Glass and Ceramics on Bornholm (KADK) in 2002. I live and work in Copenhagen.
In making sculptural glass, unique pieces with a simple expression, mainly driven by a simple geometric advantage.
In the last couple of years, I have lucky lucky to see my recognition as an artist expand, and luckily my development as an artist has grown with it. I now work in cooperation with significant galleries in London, Paris, Germany, and the USA. It is a very exciting time for me, and I am learning a lot about how to make my art into a business.
