Sarasota: The Glass Mecca!  List of events for January 25 - 28, 2018

Starting January 25th and continuing through the 28th, 2018, the West Coast of Florida will provide you with a once in a lifetime experience in the dramatic evolution of Studio Glass worldwide.

Your experience will begin with the much-anticipated grand opening of the Kotler- Coville Pavillion located at the entrance of the prestigious Ringling Museum of Art. This new space was created to present Studio Glass gifted from these great collections and selected glass works from the museum's collection.

Next will be a strolling dinner and preview of Habatat Galleries "Masters in Glass” auction, which will start directly after dinner.

The next day begins with a visit to the Ringling College of Art and Design to visit the Richard and Barbara Basch collection. This will be followed by an entertaining artist talk by in the adjacent Thompson Academic Center auditorium. Lunch will be at the school followed by a demonstration at the newly opened Basch Visual Arts Center.

Next, we will visit two important exhibitions created by Habatat Galleries. "Trends" is an eye-opening presentation that speculates on the future of glass as an expression for artists."Currents" presents new sculptures of 30 of the most

That evening, we will be hosted by the Alfstad & Contemporary, which will offer a stirring presentation by Laura Donefer and Debbie Taylor.

On Saturday, we will visit two noted collectors' homes, both of whom have recently moved to exciting new residences. Following this, we will enjoy a traveling lunch as we relax in our state of the art buses for a scenic ride to St Pete, where we will visit the Duncan McClellan gallery.

After this, we are invited to share in a historic event, the grand opening of the magical Imagine Museum featuring rare glimpses into the 55-year history of Studio Glass in America. This will be an opening that you will not forget!

Your "Glass Vacation " will include 3 nights at the Hyatt Resort in Sarasota, 2 dinners, 2 lunches, a brunch all tickets and transportation and memories that will last a lifetime!

Early Itinerary:

Thursday, January 25
3:00 to 5:00 pm opening of the Coville/Kotler Pavilion at the Ringling Museum
5:30 to 7:00 pm strolling dinner and preview of the art to be auctioned.
7:00 to 9:30 pm the auction (catalog available).

Friday, January 26
9:30 to 10 am a tour of the Richard and Barbara Basch Gallery at the Ringling College of Art and Design.
10:30 to 11:30 am a talk by internationally noted artist* at the adjacent auditorium.
11:30 to 12:15 lunch at the Ringling College
12:15 Tour and demo at the new Basch Visual Arts Center
2:00 grand opening of Trends and Currents Exhibition curated by Habatat Galleries.
5:30 to 8:00 exhibits at the Alfstad & Contemporary Gallery
Dinner is on your own.

Saturday, January 27
9:30 to 12:00 am visits to collector homes (Carol Camiener, Gigi)
12:00 to 1:30 travel to St Pete lunch provided.
1:30 to 2:30 visit the Duncan McClellan Gallery
3:00 to 5:00 (visit Chihuly Museum, a collector Dali Museum
5:30 to 9:30 the grand opening and presentations at the Imagine Museum

Sunday, January 28
10:00 to 1:00 Brunch at the Habatat Art Space to meet the artists in a relaxed atmosphere.
